The extenders in the UP-EXT-SET series transmit 10/100Mbps Ethernet and PoE/PoE+ over coaxial cable or twisted-pair UTP cable up to a distance of 300m. The devices are supplied and used in pairs, with the UP-EXT-CAM on the camera side and the UP-EXT-SERV on the server side. The extenders make it possible to pass on the PoE power supply, e.g. of a midspan, directly via coaxial or UTP cable. Power is supplied via PoE or via a separately ordered power supply unit on the central unit side. The devices do not require any software configuration. Diagnostic LEDs provide an overview of the operating status. The individual devices can be mounted on a plate using a pair of supplied retaining flanges, or up to 16 devices can be mounted on 2U using the separately orderable 19’ UP-EXT-R2 subrack.

System Notes
Connecting several device pairs via the same UTP cable can lead to transmission problems due to crosstalk between the different signals in the cable. Ideally, therefore, each device connection should be realised via separate cables. If several cables have to be connected in series on one connection line, it is important to carry out these transitions as well as possible. This means Ideally, professionally assembled RJ45 plugs are used for the transitions. If this is not possible, for example when using telephone cables, care should be taken to unwind the stranding of the wire pairs as little as possible. The contact between the cores of the cables to be connected must be as good as possible galvanically. Screened UTP cables can cause problems due to equipotential bonding currents. In particular when combining several cables in a central unit, we recommend not to ground the screens in the central unit.

A BNC to two-wire terminal adapter is included in the scope of delivery. This is used if the extender line is a two-wire twisted pair cable.

The PoE power is reduced by the line resistance along the line. We will be happy to help you estimate the power still available at the remote end of the line.
If there is no PoE, the central unit must be supplied with power.

We recommend using our power supply unit PS-DIN-AC/48/40 in combination with our pre-assembled cable UP-EXT-CABLE. Both items are not included in the scope of delivery.
